1 –THE SIZE AND THE QUALITY OF THE TENTS.
On mount Kilimanjaro and mount Kenya ,99% of companies have small tents that someone has to squat down while entering in and getting out of their sleeping tents, squatting down not easy at all so summit savannah have introduced the V.I.P package whereby we have big tents, our tents are big enough whereby a person can stand up inside the tent, walking inside the tent and not squatting while entering in or getting out of the tents, another unique feature for our tents in V.I.P package is – the inside space is big enough to put your duffel bags and other equipment, for V.I.P package we use REI ,THE NORTH FACE AND CABELA’S TENTS.
2- SLEEPING ON FOLDING CAMPING BEDS.
Sleeping is precious on your climb, we would like you to sleep comfortably, by ensuring that, we have folding camping beds to put inside your sleeping tent, this will make you not to sleep on the ground, the cold temperature from the ground will not affect you at all cost.
3. 3-INCH CAMPING MATTRESSES.
Having one-inch mattress will not make you to sleep comfortably, from our experience people struggle to sleep because of not having thick mattress, our clients who have booked V.I.P and Luxury packages will get 3 inch mattresses that will help them to sleep comfortable.
4. TENT HEATER
In Mount Kilimanjaro, camping fire is not being allowed, to make sure that you will be having warm evenings and mornings, we have tent heaters that we put inside the eating tents, SOMETHING TO REMEMBER THAT WE ONLY PUT THE TENT HEATERS INSIDE THE EATING TENTS AND NOT IN THE SLEEPING TENTS.
5. SLEEPING BAG
Four-season, warm, cozy sleeping bags.
Summit savannah supplies warm sleeping bag ,our sleeping bags are negative 20 to 30 centigrade, low oxygen makes people to feel cold on the mountain hence having warm sleeping bag will assist you to sleep great on the mountain .
NOTE: YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN SLEEPING BAG, HOWEVER IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SLEEPING BAG, THEREFORE WE SUPPLY SLEEPING BAG FOR FREE.
6. PRIVATE SHOWER TENTS OR WASH TENTS.
A shower tent with hot water everyday.
From our experience people like to shower on the mountain, however most companies do not have shower tents but we do, we warm up water then put in the special shower bucket.
7 HOT WATER BOTTLE.
HOW TO STAY WARM WHLE CAMPING
Stay warm in your nights on Mount Kilimanjaro.a hot water bottle in your sleeping bag stay warm for many hours and help you to sleep deeply, we fill up hard plastic bottle or (rubber) hot water bottle with hot water and take with you to your bed, and put between your legs, so it hits your femoral artery, this will help your feet not to be cold, since having cold feet will be dificult to sleep.
8. PRIVATE TOILETS AND PRIVATE TOILET TENTS.
There are public and private toilets but we do not recommend our hikers to use public toilets on the mountain just because of the hygiene is very poor, the public toilets are used by mountain crews and climbers travelling with low-low-low budget tour operators.
NOTE: Something important to understand about public toilets; public toilets are not clean as private toilets and sometime get very smelly.
For private toilets, hygiene is very good since we assign a porter who is responsible to clean the toilet. Private toilets are chemical toilets with seat, and not like public toilets, which are long dropping toilets.
Again if you would like to have a private toilet and private toilet tent for just you (We mean not to share the toilet with anyone in the group), this can be arranged but please note that is going to be expensive.
For women ,if possible to bring urinating device like a “shewee” that allow you to pee while standing up.
